Wealth Gap

the 44th President of the United States...Bara...Image by jmtimages via Flickr
This past year has been a hell of a year for the American Economy. Gas prices went through the roof, food prices skyrocketed, and the housing market really went all the bad. As the economy went spiraling down hill so did the wealth gap between the poor and middle class. Many Americans lost there jobs which has lead to high rate of unemployment along with people seeking more Government Aide then in past years. Food Stamp benefits skyrocketed as more people applied for benefits to help feed the family. The wealth gap has widen between the poor and middle class and its only going to get worse.

Regardless of how the economy is doing it seems the super-rich come out ahead and to prove it, Wall St. has set yet another new pay record. The rest of the nation, not so much.

Why No Unemployment Benefits

WILMINGTON, OH - DECEMBER 16: Layed-off worke...Image by Getty Images via @daylife If you have been watching the news you have heard that many Americans are losing their Unemployment Benefits. The government has cut a lot of folks off from getting benefits for being unemployed. The maximum number of weeks on unemployment I think is 16. The job market has not improved, and many Americans are now forced off the governmental aide that helps them stay afloat. The question is why has the Government decided to stop paying benefits to workers who are entitled to it. Has the Government ran out of money?

Do we really have money to give out for unemployed workers? Our country is in debt, so where is the money coming from to pay unemployment benefits ? Also, why isn't the Government making so that people can get retrained for new industries that are hiring?
